Baby Update Number 2!

This post is not really book related I'm afraid but I thought that I would give you the latest baby update! I am 20 weeks so we had the second scan on Friday morning, Dr S and I had decided to find out the sex so we were very, very excited! Off we went to the hospital and the good news was that Baby Scribbles was looking very well but the bad news was that baby's legs were very firmly closed! Dr S wasn't having any of that so arranged a private scan for Saturday and off we went again! This time Baby Scribbles was a little more accommodating and we discovered that we will be expecting a baby girl in January!! We would have been happy either way to be honest but it is so exciting to know and it somehow made it all a little bit more real. We have already been shopping and many a pink item has been purchased!
I have already got a quite a few children's books ready to go on the shelves in the nursery but I thought that I would ask all you lovely people if you have any book recommendations, especially for little girls, let me know in the comments if you do!

Oh congratulations. I have girls and they so much fun to have. I would definitely buy We Are Going On A Bear Hunt, as toddlers love that book.

Lovely a girl. I think a copy of Mary Poppins is definitely one to get mine was a pink copy!

Lots of pink knitting then!

For a first baby book, I would recommend a cloth book... I've bought one each for my neice and nephew and they love them. My nephew is only 5 months old, but it was trying to reach for his sister's books... A cloth book is great because he can chew on it, dribble on it and look a the bright colours and feel the textures. He loves it! His sister (nearly two) still loves hers (and she tries to pinch her brother's too).

After that, anything that has flaps they can lift or textures they can touch. I'd avoid popup books until she's around 3, otherwise you find the popups cease to popup after they've mangled them! My niece loves lift-the-flap books. The "Tales From Acorn Woods" ones are great!

Also, find books where there's a cuddly toy character to go with them... such as Spot or Kipper... Kids love to read, cuddle and play at the same time.

P.S. - Congratulations! :)
