Totally engrossed!!

I'm so sorry for not posting but I have been totally engrossed in Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor and it is very long! I am absolutely loving it though and it has reminded me how much I enjoy reading historical fiction. I am hoping to get through it this week and I shall post my review too. Dot Scribbles has had many new books arriving this week:

  • The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt

  • A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff

  • Wedlock by Wendy Moore

  • In Search of Adam by Caroline Smailes

  • The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

  • The Model Wife by Julia Llewellyn

  • Black Boxes by Caroline Smailes

and several others, lucky old me! If you have read any of these then do let me know what you thought of them!

I haven't read any of these ones Dot. I tried to read The Children's Book last year but I just couldn't get into it - I do want to try again though so I will be waiting eagerly to hear what you think of it! I'm also wondering what The White Queen is like...

Nicole- Me too, I have heard so many good things about it!

Becky- It's lovely, I am really struggling to put it down!

Karen- I used to love Philippa Gregory so I hope that The White Queen doesn't disappoint!

Glad you enjoyed Forever Amber. I love historical fiction - but as far as I am concerned, Forever Amber is the original and the best. i am always suprised that it has not been adapted for TV... Thanks for sharing.

The Children's Book is outstanding, it really is. I finished it this week and am moping around feeling lost without it!

I will be interested to hear about the Gregory, I have sort of given up on her after the last one about Bess of Hardwick who is iconic in my mind.

I also have Wedlock and am very excited about that one.

I haven't read any of these books, Dot, so I am interested to hear what you have to say about them. I picked up The Children's Book a couple of times but something about it didn't convince me to take it home.
So glad you are having fun reading Forever Amber.

Hannah- I'm so pleased that I have read it! Somebody told me that there is a film version but I've not got round to having a look for it yet!

Lulu- That's good to hear, some people have been quite negative about it but I'm looking forward to it!

Simon- I think that Wedlock sounds really interesting, I hope that it's good!

Rhiana- I'm going to read it next, oooh thank you I shall pop over!

Kim- I had kept picking it up and putting it down but I'm quite intrigued by it so I shall let you know!

I had to take a break from historical fiction for an extended time because I outdid myself on Philippa. But I'm craving it again! My current read, Heresy, is helping a little, but I definitely need something romantic!
