Booking Through Thursday: Preferences

Which do you prefer? (Quick answers–we’ll do more detail at some later date)

Reading something frivolous? Or something serious?
I really can't pick, I like a good mix of both!
Paperbacks? Or hardcovers?
Paperbacks, Hardcovers are too heavy to read in the bath!!
Fiction or Non Fiction?
Definitely fiction.
Poetry? Or Prose?
Prose but I do really enjoy reading poetry.
Biographies? Or Autobiographies?
Hmmm I would probably have to say biographies as most of the people I am interested in reading about are no longer with us!
History? Or Historical Fiction?
Historical fiction
Series? Or Stand-alones?
I mainly read stand alones but it's nice to find a good series of books too.
Classics? Or best-sellers?
Classics, they're usually best-sellers too!
Lurid, fruity prose? Or straight-forward, basic prose?
Again I think you often need a bit of both!
Plots? Or Stream-of-Consciousness?
Plots
Long books? Or Short?
Long, something to really get your teeth into!
Illustrated? Or Non-illustrated?
Non-illustrated probably
Borrowed? Or Owned?
Owned in case I really love it as I wouldn't want to give it back!
New? Or Used?
New, I buy a lot of second hand books but it's always exciting buying a brand new sparkly one!

I've a hard time answering them too! There're a few questions I wanted to say 'Both'!

My answer would be both to most of them - with a few exceptions.

I love that so many classics are still popular today. I heard that Wuthering Heights is being re-published with a Twilight-style cover. It will be interesting to see if that brings it onto the best-seller lists.

My choices depend on the mood I'm in. Really, I just love to read and will attempt most genres and styles.

I love buying sparkly books too. I never thought that way about biographies. Although recently there have been so many biographies on living people.

Susan- I hadn't heard that about Wuthering Heights but it's a brilliant idea, it's such a good book!

Violet- I agree but if the person is still alive then I think I would prefer to read something that they have written themselves!

I thought they were difficult to answer. Happy BTT!

You're right about the classics. I wanted to answer both on a couple as well.

I'm the opposite when it comes to own or borrowed. I borrowed first then if I love a book, I buy it!

I love paperbacks too. That's always what I will buy. I just love that they are portable and I usually like the font and size which tends to be smaller than in hardcovers.

This is great. Describing new books as 'sparkly' is just right!

Great answers! The name of my blog is "Well-Mannered Frivolity" - can you guess what my answer to number 1 was? It was hard to choose between some of the answers this week though...

Nicole- paperbacks are much better aren't they, I always end up with at least two in my bag!

I find it difficult to capture my reading behavior in multiple choices!

I prefer a plot-driven novel that slowly unfolds in fruity and lush prose, with multiple layers and allusion that indulge my mind long after I turn the last page like the lingering aftertaste of a good glass of wine.

All change here!

I have made the decision to stop doing written reviews on here for a little while. I shall keep this page open but for the time being I sha...
