Book Review: Thinking of you by Jill Mansell

I don't like to write negative reviews but I really didn't enjoy this book. I'm not sure if maybe I had too much on my mind but I felt like it was a real chore to get to the end.
This is the first book that I have read by Jill Mansell and I am going to try not to let it put me off as I have read so many good reviews of her books and it could be that this one just wasn't right for me.
The idea of the book is that Ginny Holland's daughter, Jem, has gone off to university and Ginny needs to revamp her own life. So she gets a new job as a waitress with the gorgeous Finn as her new boss; starts a relationship with the charming Perry Kennedy and tries not to worry about Jem too much.
Unfortunately, I found the whole book to be a little predictable and therefore I found it hard to believe in. I did enjoy the characters that Jill Mansell created though and I think this is what kept me reading to the end.
Has anyone read any other Jill Mansell books that they can recommend as I would like to give them another go?

I really like Jill Mansell, but I don't like all of them! I haven't read that one, and didn't fiish the last one that I read. I enjoyed Rumour has it as far as I recall.

That is disappointing, eh? I had the same experience with Little Bee by Chris Cleave - every review I read was just raving about what a fantastic book Little Bee was. However, I read it and I just did not like it that much and could not see what all the fuss was about. Oh well. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, right?

From what you explained it does seem like an interesting book. I have heard good things about Jill Mansell but have yet to read any of her books. Better luck with the next one.

Verity- I might try Rumour Has It, I've picked it up in book shops a few times and it's had good reviews too!

Nadia- I suppose it would be boring if we all liked the same books, I think I will give another one of hers a go!

Nicole- thank you! I will definitely try another one!

I liked Rumour Has It and I LOVED An Offer You Can't Refuse, which was my first JM book, so can recommend those! What a shame you didn't like this, it sounds good! Great review :) Chloe@chicklitreviews

Haven't read any JM yet, but I have a copy of Millie's Fling, which sounds quite promising!

I'm smack in the middle of Mansell's Millie's Fling right now -- and I love it! I've actually laughed out loud several times. Her characters are very likeable and I feel very attached to Millie and Orla, two of the book's main characters. I would definitely give this one a try!

All change here!

I have made the decision to stop doing written reviews on here for a little while. I shall keep this page open but for the time being I sha...
