This is going on the wish list (which seems to be quite long at the moment!)

I was talking to Mr S last night about my plans for the glorious summer that I am sure we are going to have in the UK! These plans mainly consisted of myself, a large pile of books and an even larger jug of Pimms with all the trimmings. This got me thinking about suitable reading chairs for the garden, we have a table and chair set but that doesn't seem right so I thought the perfect solution would be a good old deck chair so I had a look this morning and found this wonderful one:

This site has some lovely ones, I really like the Penguin design ones too! Perfect for a day of reading in the garden!

What a great idea! I like!!

I know this makes me sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but I've always been crazy about garden furniture. I don't know why, I just love looking through catalogues and stuff for them, they're some really nice chrome ones around. I also really like the sun-umbrella, you know that goes over the table? Bliss! Perhaps because it reminds me of sunny days and barbecues....

Amy- don't worry, I have a big liking for garden furniture too! Sunny days and barbeques are always good!

Definitely like the deck chair idea and the thought of piles of books and large jugs of Pimms whilst lounging in the garden - Bliss! Have you worked out a reading list too?

Kim- No, I haven't thought of a reading list yet! I think I was probably focusing on the Pimms a bit too much!

Melody- They're lovely aren't they, perfect for summer reading!

OK, so now I have actually read "Rebecca" (mainly because it was your favourite book! Thank you, thank you, thank you for that). I am so delighted about finding Rebecca and will review it finally tomorrow :)

So, perhaps I can recommend one for you?

First of all, before I make any recommendation, though, what kind of books do you like most? Autobiographies/biographies, ripping tarns, weepy stuff, others???

Perhaps we should work on the summer book list, not least of all because it is our duty to do justice to the Pimms (or freezing white wine. in my case)- Happy to join you on this 'task', Dot.

Kim- I am very much looking forward to your review of Rebecca, I can't tell you how pleased I am that you enjoyed it! I would love for you to suggest a book for me to read, I like all kinds of books really. I do really like books like Rebecca with a bit of mystery and s scary house thrown in, so if you can think of anything then let me know!
We should have a good think of a Summer reading list, I am getting married this summer so I definitely need to plan which books to take away on my honeymoon! I shall see what I can think of and we can put our ideas together!

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, how exciting!
It's now even more important to have a good reading list (and a deck chair to relax in after you get back from your travels, of course:)
Three books I have enjoyed recently, John Lanchester 'Fragrant Harbour'(a very well written love story set in war torn Hong Kong), Elizabeth Gilbert 'Eat, Pray, Love' (memoir of a woman searching for herself) and Hilary Mantel 'Beyond Black' (dark tale of a medium and the fight she has for privacy in her own thoughts. I found this to be a scary book, actually, so I thought that might appeal, but no big house).
Let me know what you think. Any recommendations from you for my list would be great too.

All change here!

I have made the decision to stop doing written reviews on here for a little while. I shall keep this page open but for the time being I sha...
