Mariel suggested this week’s question
Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?
I am definitely not a controlled buyer when it comes to books! I do buy books quicker than I can read them but I would hate to only have one new book on the shelf waiting to be read. It's good to have lots to choose from as I think you have to find the right book for you at a particular time. I like to keep my new books separate as well, the top shelf of my favourite bookcase at the top of my stairs is dedicated solely to the books waiting to be read. It's nice to be able to see them as I climb the stairs, it gives me many opportunities to decide on what I will read next. What about you, are you a book glutton?

We are definitely similar whereas arranging the shelf space is concerned. I like to have a lot of options to read too, I am a very moody person :)
I can't suffer the pressure of a dedicated TBR shelf or pile; rather, I hide them among my library shelves in hopes that I will "discover" them when in the perfect rood for reading them. I often purchase a surfeit, reading one or two right away, and shelving the rest until the best time.
Its good to have lots to choose from. Not having a choice would give me more stress than having too many!
Violet- It's better to have more than one book to choose from isn't it, sometimes you're just not in the mood for certain things!
Rugelach- Thanks for visiting my blog! I have to keep them all on one shelf othwerise I forget that I have bought them! Happy BTT!
Jo- I agree, I can be quite moody if my TBR pile is getting quite low!
My bookshelf is in my bedroom and the top is stacked with over 100 books all waiting to be read. But, I am working on it!
My answer is here.
I agree - choice is good! I'll just keep telling myself that as I buy the next book...
I buy because I too need a choice for reading. It depends on my mood what book I am going to read.
Book gluttons, are we?
I love having options so I borrow from the local library. I always borrow too many though and always have to bring back books that I haven't read. But I keep them on my TBR list with the hope that I will borrow it again or break down and buy it!
My TBR pile is huge, and new ones arrive every week, adding to it. And then, I have this habit of reserving too many books at the library and not having enough time to read them all before they need to go back. All of mine sit on the headboard of our bed. Easy to see!
I too have books waiting to be read and I like to keep them in seperate places. I also like lots of options to choose from. Happy BTT!
I love re-sorting my TBR pile when I'm trying to pick my next book.
This is so funny. I have yet to encounter a restrained buyer in reading through all of the BTT entries today. I'm no exception. I try to curb myself for a while and then I just get crazy. I am in a "restrained" period now.
I also like lots of books to choose from. I have a draw full of TBR's as well as a couple of piles on the coffee table. There is also a bookshelf full and I like to sort through all these places when it comes to deciding which book to read next. I love to re-arrange the order of the books every so often. Having said that, it is rare that a TBR book gets rescued from where it sits, as I almost always come across a more immediate read each time I go to the book shop (which is way too often!) so all the TBR piles get bigger.
Yeah, perhaps 'gluttony' is the right word to use, although, I like the sound of the word 'choice' better.
Jess- I hadn't thought of a TBR list for the library- what a good idea!
Nicole- I am trying to be a little more restrained at the moment with my book buying but I highly doubt this will last!
Kim- I agree, 'choice' is a much better word! I love having a big pile of books to choose from! Have a lovely weekend!
Oh Dot I wish I could be a bit more controlled, it just doesnt seem to ever happen, most upsetting.
I agree. It's nice to have a choice when you've finished a book. Having your own personal library is good for the soul!
Simon- my bouts of control never last very long!!
Vicki- Thanks for visiting my blog! I couldn't agree more about the personal library!
