Booking Through Thursday

It's Thursday again! Here's this weeks BTT:

Which is worse?

Finding a book you love and then hating everything else you try by that author, or

Reading a completely disappointing book by an author that you love?

Oooh I had to really think about this one and I think that finding a book that you love and then hating everything else by that author is worse. I LOVED The Secret History by Donna Tart, I re-read it so many times and recommended it to loads of people so I was beyond excited when she published another book called The Little Friend. I really hated it, I didn't even finish it and I just remember feeling so disappointed, it was as though it was written by a completely different author.

I think you are very lucky if you can find an author that you love and they have written many books. I love Daphne Du Maurier and have always enjoyed anything that she has written but I was a little bit disappointed with her book Jamaica Inn. I knew though that there were other books by her that I would be able to try and I have not been disappointed for a long time!

Haven't read those, but it's never fun to get disappointed. You just wish their other books are just as lovely as the one you loved

Read just Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I am planning to read more of her books, I'll have to avoid this one.

I find it difficult to choose! They are both disappointing. I loved The Secret History, but I haven't read The Little Friend. I've read afew so-so reviews though

This was a tough one for me to answer too but I answered the same way you did.

I have not read anything by DuMaurier, though I did love Rebecca as a movie.

I noticed that you are reading Best Intentions. I am as well. When you finish your review, I would love to link it to mine. Just let me know.

Thanks,
jess

I haven't read The Secret History yet, but have heard great things about it. I have it in audio version, but haven't gotten to it yet.

Well, I'm going to have to get "THe Secret History." Never heard of that one, but it sounds good.

I read - and LOVED - "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Piccoult. And I've not been able to get through another one of hers. VERY disappointing.

Have a good Thursday everyone.

Liz- I would highly recommend The Secret History. I feel the same about Jodi Picoult- I really enjoyed My Sister's Keepers but her other books just haven't gripped me! Happy BTT!

I loved The Secret History, but after seeing so many negative reviews of The Little Friend I decided to pass on it.

Dot I have to say so far (and I am 5 books of hers in) Daphne is a writer who delivers everytime, even if its unexpected its brilliance.

Simon- Daphne is great isn't she! We are very lucky that she has written so many wonderful books! I have just finished Child 44 and loved it, I hope you don't mind but I included a link to your blog in my review so that readers could see your interview with Tom Rob Smith!

All change here!

I have made the decision to stop doing written reviews on here for a little while. I shall keep this page open but for the time being I sha...
