How to Stuff Up Christmas was the perfect start to my festive reading. Rosie Blake has written a warm and entertaining story that is perfect for this time of year.
Eve can't bear the idea of spending Christmas at her parents house as last year her boyfriend proposed on Christmas morning. That same boyfriend cheated on Eve and she is heartbroken and determined to get away for the festive period. Eve settles on a pottery course in Pangbourne and she rents a houseboat to stay in. Looking forward to learning a new skill and getting away from it all, Eve sets off on a little adventure with only her dog, Marmite for company.
Romance is the very last thing on Eve's mind so she is surprised when she appears to have attracted the attention of Greg, the local and very handsome vet. He comes to Eve's rescue one day but then he becomes a regular visitor to her houseboat where he attempts to teach her a thing or two about cooking. However he seems to live a strange double life as he regularly disappears and Eve is left wondering what he is getting up to.
I was just in the mood for a lovely festive read and this was just perfect. It's not overly cheesey or clichéd but there is the odd mince pie and Christmas tree. Rosie Blake holds your attention throughout and I liked ever
y single character. There was a lot of humour in this book and I especially enjoyed the scenes with the errant goose stalking Eve's boat.
The setting was perfect, Eve's houseboat sounded delightful, all cosy and snug and it was lovely to see how Eve quickly settled into village life.
How to Stuff Up Christmas is a great read, get yourself a copy and then arm yourself with a cup of hot chocolate and a nice comfy chair.
Many thanks to the team at Atlantic Books for sending me this book to review.
