The TBR Shelf of 2010 (So far!)

I had a good old book sort out yesterday, it's been a long time coming! I have a massive pile for the charity book shop and Mr S will hopefully now stop moaning that he doesn't have any book shelves for his books. I put all of my TBR books on the shelf in my office and I already have thirty one books waiting to be read and that is ignoring the pile of library books sitting on the top. The worrying thing is that I know that this pile will just grow and grow and it's only January.

The ones that I am looking forward to the most are Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor which I have wanted to read for so long and my lovely husband bought me a copy for Christmas. Blacklands is next on the list, this book sounds very interesting, Simon has just reviewed it over at Savidge reads. I am also really looking forward to getting up to date with The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, I have 3 more to go in order to bring me up to speed and I know that Alexander McCall Smith has another one due out this year.

Has anyone read any of the books in my TBR pile, any that I should be shifting a bit closer to the top?

Lots of gems in there - I recommend the Miss Read - it's a bit different from the things you normally review but I think you'll quite like it. Love in a cold climate should also be read soonest!

Anyway, looks like you've got plenty to keep you busy :)

I love the fact that the TBR shelf is bowing under the pressure! Sign of a true book addict xxx

Verity- I've heard lots of lovely things about Miss Read lately so that is definitely moving further up the list! I want to read Love in a Cold Climate but I haven't read The Pursuit of Love so I am going to try and get a copy of that first.

Mrs Lil- It is bowing a little isn't it, there will be more added to it too!

I've read Love Lies, which is predictable but a nice easy read nonetheless, and Parks goes to great lengths on her opinion of fame.

I've noted down a few of the books you've got there. Will you be reviewing Forever Amber? From just the spine it looks good.

Charlie- I really enjoyed Adele Parks other books so I am hope that I will like this one too!
I will definitely be reviewing Forever Amber, I have wanted to read it for such a long time!

Hi, I haven't read any of them, but I have few on my TBR shelves too. I really need a good sort out, think you might have inspired me to actually do it!

I love your shelf of TBR books! If you add anymore it might wind up cracking with all the weight of the books :) I just have my TBR books scatter about the room in piles - I need to organize them better and clear out the books that I definitely don't want to read. By the by, thanks for the heads up on Alexander McCall Smith - I had no idea he was putting out another No.1 Ladies Detective Agency book. YAY!! I love those!! Can't wait for it!!

Sadly my eyesight isn't good enough to see the titles on your shelf...it looks like you have an Anita Shreve -although I can't see which one - she's generally pretty dependable. And it that How to Be Good by Hornby? We read that in my book club a couple years ago and at least one member loved it. (Not me, although I thought it was okay.)

I LOVE "Who's That Girl?" - it was one of my favourite books of 2009!

I read The Piano Teacher last year and really enjoyed it. I really need to organise my books too - I'm a little scared to see how many will be in my TBR pile!

Random Acts of Heroic Love is one of my favourites, so I'd love to know your thoughts on it.

I've just checked Blacklands out of the library, so I look forward to comparing notes.

None of yours particuarly stood out as me having read them, but I have read all of the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency Books, they are great.

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my TBR shelf! I am going to try and keep the TBR pile down to just one shelf this year, we shall see!

Hi Dot, I'm from Brazil and I saw your blog when I was looking for a review for The Brightest Star in the sky! I really enjoyed what you had written, and I love the book! I read in English because it would take a long time to be translated into portuguese, and I couldn't wait!
I really want to read - from your pile - Who's that girl?

You may want to brace that shelf before you add anymore books to it :)!

I see Strange Fits of Passion on the shelf - it is one of my favorites! I was so drawn into the story that I read it in about 2 sittings.

Enjoy working your way through the shelf!

Giu Fernandes- Thanks for your lovely comments, I love Marian Keyes! I have heard a lot of good things about Who's That Girl recently so I shall have to read it soon.

Bookynyc- I know, I think it may need a little more support. I used to love Anita Shreve but I haven't read a book of hers for a long while. A lot of people have recommended Strange Fits of Passion though so I'm hoping that I will enjoy it!

Well you probably know what I'm going to say I think you should go for the 'Miss Read' book! I'm very much like you I have now sorted out a TBR self although not as full as yours...but it just seems to be getting fuller :-)

At first glance the things that stand out are

1) A Thousand Splendid Suns - I think you would really like that.
2) The fact that the shelf is bowing slightly in the middle which made me giggle.

Looks like a good TBR!

novelinsights- I keep meaning to read A Thousand Splendid Suns as it has been on my shelf for ages plus I loved The Kite Runner. I hadn't noticed how much the shelf was bowing until I took the photograph, I'm going to have to test how many more books it can take!

All change here!

I have made the decision to stop doing written reviews on here for a little while. I shall keep this page open but for the time being I sha...
