Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!

Well I am off on my honeymoon very soon and I need to get my book choices down to four (maybe 5, but Mr S said definitely no more than 5!). The books I have to choose from are below so please let me know if you have read any of them or if you have heard anything good/bad? I also have The Seance by John Harwood on its way in the post, Simon's excellent review of this led to it finding its way into my shopping basket so that is also one to choose from!
I thought I would include a picture of Alfie as he has not appeared for a while and he is a year old next month. You will have to excuse the fact that he looks like a tramp, he is having his haircut next week so he should be able to see from beneath all that fur once again!!

I loved The Seance, but wan't a fan of The Believers (despite loving Notes on a Scandal)

I plan to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo soon, and would be tempted to take that with me if I was going away.

I can't help you with the rest, but I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!

farmlanebooks- Thank you! I am definitely going to take The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Seance if it gets here on time!

I'm sorry to say I haven't read any of these, but I've heard great things about Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Burning Bright.

Have a great honeymoon -- how exciting! :) Congrats!

I hope you have an amazing Honeymoon, dot! Where are you off to or is it as surprise?

I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns and think it is a perfect summer reading choice.

I've not read them, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been sitting on my pile for like ages, LOL. Too many books, too little time!!

Sorry I couldn't offer anything. Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon! :)

Happy honeymoon! Have a wonderful time! I have Burning Bright on my TBR but haven't gotten to it yet. I'm coveting Night Train to Lisbon, and am pretty sure (don't know why) that it's really good. The only one I've read from your stack is A Thousand Splendid Suns, which, while I enjoyed the story, wasn't very impressed with, writing-wise. I know a lot of others love it, though.

Meg- Thank you! I think I am going to start Burning Bright now and take Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with me!

Paperbackreader- Thank you, I am going on a cruise so plenty of time to read!

Melody- It's been on my TBR pile for ages too, I shall let you know what I think when I get back!

Claire- Thank you, I really enjoyed The Kite Runner but I may leave A Thousand Splendid Suns until I get back!

Oh lovely, honeymoon - congrats!

I haven't read any of them, but I do have three of them on my tbr list: A Spring Affair, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Believers. I have heard good things about the first two.

I would take them all and ignore him! He he x

Book Chick City- Thank you, I can't decide between them at the moment so I can see them all making their way into the suitcase!

I LOVED A thousand splendid suns, but same opinion as Jackie on The believers I'm afraid.

A thousand splendid suns is awesome but not something you would want to read on a honeymoon. It's very sad.

Have a great time.

Awwwww, enjoy your honeymoon and hope it all goes splendidly at the wedding! OMG, you're going on a cruise?!?!?!?! Super mega jealous, that's like my ultimate dream! Where will you be cruising if it's not a secret? ;)

As for the books, I'm planning to read Evie H. and Splendid Suns eventually as I already have them in my collection. I hope you read Burning Bright and The Believers because I'm very curious if they're any good, been wanting to read them myself! I'm afraid I haven't heard about that Pascal guy, but both The Girl and Spring Affair are said to be excellent so it'll be quite a tough choice!

Aww, why only 5 books though? ;)

Have you gotten married already and not said, when is the bg day so we can all send you our best wishes?

I would go for the Larsson book (I am going to give that a go very soon as its just massive in terms of popularity) I would aldo suggest A Thousand Splendid Suns, oh just take em all hahaha.

Verity- ah that's a shame about The Believers, I haven't read anything by Zoe Heller so I'm not sure what to expect.

Violet- thankyou, think I will save it for when I get back then!

Bookalicious- I always end up taking more books than clothes! There is a library on the ship though so I can always raid that!!

Simon- no, not got married just yet! It's this Friday so still trying to get organised! I am definitely going to take the Larsson book, it does seem to be very popular!

Hello Dot!

Sorry I haven't commented til now, for some reason I missed the bit about your honeymoon!

I hope you have a great day on Friday and a wonderful honeymoon. Cruising is soooo romantic.....I'm so happy for you. :) Ooh, it must be so exciting for you!

I'm afraid I can't offer any thoughts on the books, as I haven't read any of them. I'm surprised you haven't got anything 'lighter' in there, though. Like a beach type book. These all look rather sombre and serious!

omg, am I an idiot or what, I completely missed 'A spring affair' by milly johnson. I would take that one for sure as apparently it is an amazing book and very uplifting too!

Dot said...

Amy- thank you!! I'm really looking forward to reading A Spring Affair and I bought a Little Black Dress book too the other day so I may take that so I have something a bit lighter to read too!

Bookalicious and Kim- Thank you! I will have lots of reviews when I get back!

All change here!

I have made the decision to stop doing written reviews on here for a little while. I shall keep this page open but for the time being I sha...
